Kids Music Company’s Weblog

Kids Music Company was started by Janet Channon and Wendy Jensen in 1996. These very talented ladies are both primary trained music specialists who were running their own music school, and who realized that there was a tremendous need for new songs for young children. Songs that were educational, fun, easy to sing along with, and very accessible to teachers of  2- 8 year olds have been the result of their efforts.

I discovered Janet and Wendy about 5 years ago and was blown away by the amazing range of music that they had produced. I felt that it was the music I had been waiting for all my teaching career, and wished that I had been able to use it 20 years before.

I started using the cd’s immediately, and the children at my kindergarten just loved them. They certainly had some favorites, including “Mrs. Bunny, “the Fitness Rap” and “The Lycra Song”, but they enjoyed all the other songs as well.

We started playing musical instruments every day as well as doing some movement pieces, and songs with echo. I noticed that the kids became more creative at the tables, they were quieter as they were concentrating more and they were becoming smarter.

I was asked to do a workshop using the KMC cd’s, at our local teacher’s conference. I was so excited about the music, that of course I said “yes”.

The rest is history really. I started working for KMC three years ago, and at the end of 2006 had to give up teaching as I was getting too busy with workshops around Australia. I love my job, and am very happy to share the music with whoever would like to hear it.
